Ana Valeria Castillos is a Dominican graphic designer and filmmaker based in Brooklyn, NY.
She first earned an Associate of Applied Science degree (AAS) in Communication Design in 2017 from Chavón: The School of Design in her native Dominican Republic, followed by a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from The Cooper Union in New York City in 2022. She was the recipient of the Type Directors Club Scholarship in 2021.
She has pursued filmmaking since 2014 in a variety of roles. She worked in project development, production, and postproduction as an intern for Aurora Dominicana (2014-2018). Her time there culminated in the medium-length docufiction film Noelí en los países (which premiered in 2017 at the Visions du Réel festival), for which she served as co-producer, assistant editor, color grader, and graphic designer. In late 2020 she produced, shot, and directed her first short film Buscando a Chantal, which screened at the 2022 Nitehawk Shorts Festival in New York.

Hobbies include: shooting digital and film photography, being an amateur multi-instrumentalist for her roommate’s band Dátela Darling, playing video games, and providing live tennis-match commentary to herself.
